Europe is quickly becoming the new center for creativity in game
development as more and more international publishers are looking for
the innovations coming from European studios.
The Festival of Games consisted of a main thought leader conference, workshops, a professional Expo with a Career Fair, a Serious Connection and a Brands and Games event.
The NLGD Game Conference has invited visionaries from all over the
world to illuminate and explore videogames and the games industry.
International and national speakers have shared experiences and
knowledge with the audience. Nobody else than the creator of PONG,
Ralph Bear, took the kick-off of the conference, by taking on the mayor
of Utrecht, Aleid Wolfsen, at a game of PONG. Speakers of the
Conference can still be found at our website.
The Festival also targeted the general public with events like a large urban game and a game music event in the city of Utrecht, Europe’s rising game development hub. Together with participants and spectators we have celebrated game culture.
The NLGD Festival of Games took place from 14 to 22 June 2008 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
