wj.gif As part of the NLGD Festival of Games a first edition of GamePolitics was organized.

The morning program of NLGD GamePolitics, intended for everyone who professionally needed to learn more about games and its culture, consisted of a double crashcourse presented by Willem-Jan Renger. In the first course he 'educated' us on the most important ins and outs concerning games and the gamesindustry, whereas in the second course the educational aspect of games were explored. The program was well visited and all participants - impressed by the clarifying insights of Renger - left with renewed visions.

The afternoon was devoted to a debate between politicians, policy makers, professional educators, media experts and game experts. The debate was presided by Mr. Bahram Sadeghi.

The following statements were discussed:

  • The government needs to give a stronger impulse in order to stimulate the growth of the gamesindustry.
  • The government can and may judge the content of games.
  • The government needs to offer more opportunities for games in education and the government needs to be more creative about this matter.
