Learning from successes and failures
To turn the (serious) game industry into a real success, we should be able to create games that have an impact on society. Impact partly depends upon the quality of the game, but also on how the game is implemented in a real-life setting. We have to learn from successes in this respect, but also from games that for one reason or the other are not quite so successful. Only if we are able to collect and disseminate these lessons learned, we will be able to bring game development and the use of games to a higher plan. The impact that games may have will reflect upon the industry, and will help to stimulate the number of companies willing to invest into this new technology. The Expertise Center for Games and Game Design is aimed at creating this impact, by articulating needs from customers, by matching those needs to the competencies of game companies, and by collecting and disseminating lessons learned. |
