Marcus Vlaar - is co-founder and creative director of Ranj Serious Games. Ranj has been focused on producing serious games since the late nineties, and has build up a huge portfolio and expertise in applying game technology and principles to serious industries. Recent examples are award-winning games “Grip”, (for diabetes patients, i.c.w. Health Agency), “Hello You” (teaching English to primary school kids, i.c.w. Malmberg & Shop Around), Masters of Makeover (experimenting with safety rules, i.c.w. OTIB), and “Enterprise” (entrepreneurial skills, i.c.w. GFO and ROC WB).
The making of Sharkworld
The development of serious games requires synergy of the developer’s design expertise and the clients expertise on the game’s subject matter. Peter Smulders (OTIB) and Marcus Vlaar (Ranj Serious Games) will present their recently released game “Sharkworld”. They will present the game and discuss traps, tips and tricks concerning their cooperation in the different fases of game development. Sharkworld is an online event-based adventure game, aimed at starting project managers. In this game the player has to manage a complicated project in Shanghai, China. The game challenges the player to use his organisational and communicational skills in an entertaining experience. |
