Martijn Huigsloot - is the deputy PEGI Coordinator at NICAM. He joined the NICAM organization full-time in April 2007, but has been a part-time games examiner since 2004. He completed his studies in Communication Sciences at the University of Amsterdam and wrote his final thesis on the attraction of videogames to male adults.
NICAM (Netherlands Institute for the Classification of Audiovisual Media) was set up in the year 2000 to provide an effective and uniform system of classification for all audiovisual media. NICAM draws up classification guidelines, deals with complaints and provides consumers with descriptive information about films, TV programs, videos/ DVDs and videogames allowing the consumers to make a rational decision as to whether or not a certain product is suitable for young people of a specific age group. With respect to the classification of video games, NICAM has been appointed the Administrator of the Pan European Game Information system (PEGI) for the whole of Europe.
