NavBall wins Canadian PopVox award

Amsterdam, 29 May 30, 2008 NavBall_N95.jpg

NavBall is a mobile multiplayer GPS soccer game that is played with 22 players running around for 30minutes in the real world.

Each player has a GPS phone which connects to the other players, the ball and goal are virtual, they can only be seen on the phones. The pitch you play the game on is the actual location you and your team is standing, it can be part of the city or park. NavBall is based on the rules and excitement of soccer and therefor has two teams of 11 players that try to score as many goals as possible, the team with the most goals wins.

The PopVox awards are part of the VIDFEST which is Canada’s largest digital content event. With entries all over the world and 11 categories, The Saints, the maker of NavBall, is very proud to have won the category ‘Best Mobile Game’.

The Saints is an innovative mobile software developer based in Amsterdam and works for many cool winner_mobilegame.gifbrands and clients in Europe. NavBall is partly made to show everyone what is possible in the space of location based multiplayer games and letting everyone know that it can already be done today and that it is not future stuff.

Please see this video for the complete explanation of the game.

The next NavBall event will be held at the Festival of Game event in Utrecht, Holland. NavBall is played when the Euro2008 is in full swing so expect excited supporters in the city cheering on the NavBall teams.

There are plans to have the NavBall platform running 24/7 so people all around the world can enjoy this cool new game with their friends.
